Dimmable G4 led bulb (12V) to replace your old halogens. This 2W led is equivalent to 16W halogen and gives out 160 lumens. The bulb is dimmable and gives light 360° around. The CRI is over 92, which means that the colours of your interior look as they should with this light. The bulb is available in colour temperatures of 3000K (2800K warm white, as halogen) and 4000K (4300K neutral white). The bulb is made of safe silicon material instead of glass.

    It was a long time to come, but finally LED bulbs has arrived to offer energy efficient replacement to small halogen bulbs. Beside the small size, the direct visibility of light bulbs makes even harder to make an aesthetic solution.
    A few years ago I bought some at the nearby store for experimental reasons. Well, they were was disappointing. The dotty view of chips were unaesthetic, and - the bigger problem - the poor colour reproduction resulted in unpleasent light and made wooden surfaces pale. In addition, they were operating only from DC source, so I had to replace power supply too. So, the change of halogens failed for a while.
    Nowadays, when only 6 of 20 bulbs lit in my chandelier (think about it's lifetime, one burns out in every month), I decided to look if the evolution of LEDs has reached the desired level. So that I found, and its high CRI G4 bulb, which seemed to solve all problems mentioned above so I made a try.
    This time I was satisfied.
    Wooden surfaces remained vivid, slightly different from halogen light, but still nice. Anyway, a camera shows 2900 K if a white paper lit with this, but - as I mentioned - high CRI makes its light pleasent.
    The bulb has one homogeneous light source so it looks just like a plain halogen bulb when lighting, nothing weird. When switched off they look like a yellowish piece. This is a bit unusual, but not ugly, due to its homogeneous view and nice silicone package.
    The light source has bigger area than a halogen bulb's. It means lower surface brightness so it blinds less which is usually good.
    Although some decorative application like crystal chandeliers prefers point light source. Halogens are still better for that. Maybe a projector lens could be applied to LED chip to achive smaller lighting area.
    A very convenient feature of this bulb is the built-in driver, so you don't have to replace the power supply of the lamp, just swap the bulbs and go. You can operate from either a toroid transformer, an electronic AC or a DC power supply. With electornic AC power supply you should take care of its - who would think - MINIMUM operating power.
    This 2W LED bulb said to replace 16W halogen. This is realistic. They are definitely brighter than a 10W but slightly darker than a 20W halogen. It can be a compromise, but it's considerable to produce two power options. Anyway, if it's too bright for you, you can still dim it.
    It's diameter equals to a halogen bulb but it's longer. The lighting part just starts at the distance from its basement where a halogen actually lights. This can cause unbalanced light image in some application. You should take care of these before buying.
    Naturally, I can't say anything of its durability at this time, but 3 years warranty is calming.
    Altough it's not cheap it's definitely better than cheaper competitors.
    Finally, they did a good job at LedStore, I think it's worth to replace your old G4 halogen bulbs to this LED light.
